Biography
Carmen Molina is an internationally recognized Catalan cinematographer and filmmaker, noted for her vérité style and her dedication to outsider stories and sensitive subject matter.
Her work as Director of Photography on Until He’s Back was shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards®, nominated for an IDA Award, and garnered top prizes at leading festivals including Big Sky Documentary Film Festival and Hamptons International Film Festival.
With her directorial debut Latència, she established herself as a singular voice, winning prizes at VOC Awards, Brain Film Fest, and Dones Visuals. She later collaborated on Corren las Liebres by Lorena Ros, selected for development at SSIFF, Zinebi, and Documenta.
In 2023, she expanded her practice into live performance, joining the international tour of Spanish multi-platinum artist Bad Gyal as part of the core camera crew, shaping on-stage visuals projected in real time. Her cinematography has also been commissioned by internationally prestigious institutions such as National Geographic, the Open Society Foundations, and Forbes.
She holds a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary from UPF Barcelona — where she was awarded a scholarship — and a Master’s in Cinematography from ESCAC. Together with her involvement in networks such as Women Photograph and Dones Visuals, these steps reflect her pursuit of craft and her vision of cinematography as a medium for creative dialogue and cultural exchange.
